Who is your Hero Pastor Thoughts

WHO IS YOUR HERO
Heroes
!  Who are they and what do they have to do with me and you?!  In our society today, there are 'hero sandwiches' or 'movie and music heroes' and 'sports heroes'.  The orginal meaning of heroes is someone who has done something important and might have died doing it. Hebrews 11 lists the names of 'heroes of our faith.' This is a chapter well worth reading this week.  These are people who we never knew in person but they are indeed heroes who lived out their Christian faith so that we have their examples to follow in our Christian walk with Jesus. We can learn from their lives and from their deaths. You will also learn that they had one main focus who was the hero of their lives and that was Jesus!

As we consider our heroes and especially our main hero, Jesus, this week remember these verses from God's Word.  "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." (Hebrews 12:2-4).

Consider Jesus as The Ultimate  Hero! He is our leader!  He sits on the Father God's right hand and prays for us daily!  Listen to hear His voice this week.  Focus on Him! Give Him the true 'hero worship' that He deserves.  Ask yourself, "Who do I look up to and honor the most in my life?  Are rock stars our heros or movie heroes or friends the main focus in my daily life?" It is ok to look up to and admire others but no one should be the main focus in our lives except Jesus our hero who is our Savior and God.  Think about this.

Blessings,
Pastor Jack
