PASTOR JACK'S THOUGHTS    APRIL 29, 2009

CHOICES! CHOICES! CHOICES!
Haven't we all complained at times that we have too many choices?! Stop and think a minute about the wonderful privilege that God gave us to make choices. If He had not created us to have to the ability to choose for ourselves, we would be robots and  programmed to live very dull lives. Our choices can be a huge blessing or they can be a huge curse to us.  Remember Adam and Eve who chose to disobey God and as a result our world was changed!  Sin and death entered this world because of their wrong choice.  On the other hand, remember some good choices:  David chose to bravely kill the giant and God's people won a war;  Joshua and his household chose to serve God and he became a great leader in Israel; Jesus chose to follow God's will and we have salvation.

The Bible tells us that: Jesus said that He chose us to "go and bear fruit" John
15:16; God tell us to choose His instruction rather than silver Proverbs 8:10; Jesus taught that we must choose whether we will serve God or money in Luke 16:13.  Then there is a great statement from Joshua who said, "Choose you this day whom you will serve but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!! (Joshua 24:15)

This Sunday, I will be speaking to you about the Rich Young Ruler and his choice from Mark 10:17-31.  Did he know how drastically his choice would change his life? Think about the choices that are yours to make every day! Jesus said that before we make decisions (choices) we need to count the cost of that decision.  What will be the result of your choices?  Be wise!

Choosing to serve Him,
Pastor Jack L. Martin
