Pastor's Thoughts

PASTOR JACK'S THOUGHTS     DECEMBER 28, 2009

GOD'S GIFT OF RENEWAL
Over the past two months, we have thought about our thankfulness and God's gift of blessing to us, Jesus.  For the next few weeks, let us think about God's Gift of Renewal!!  Lamentation 3:22-23  says that God's "compassions never fail; they are new every morning" through His great faithfulness toward His children. His blessings are new to us each day.  Each morning in your life and mine God renews His compassion to us.  God made renewal a theme throughout His Word. Creator God made plant life and human life to 'renew' itself.  He desires to give usnew spiritual life through Jesus.  He also promised that He will make a new heaven and a new earth in the future!

In God's gracious plan for us, He instituted 'renewal' so that we would not become stagnant and bored.  When we make resolutions for the new year, we are participating in God's plan for renewal.  For Christians, it is a time of looking back on the past year and evaluating what worked and what didn't work and then making plans to set new goals that will help us grow and change according to His will for our lives.  Let me encourage you to ask God to show you what needs to be 'made new' in the way you live, worship, work and play during the coming year.  With each of us, that will be different so that each of us has to make our own resolutions personal between us and God.

Before the New Year, spend some time with God in making worthy resolutions that will help you grow spiritually.  Write them down and keep them up to date as you live life in 2010!!  I have heard it said that "New Year resolutions are made to be broken!"  Let us prove that wrong!  God inspired resolutions are made to be kept!  Make that your challenge for 2010!

Resolving to be totally His,

Pastor Jack
