PASTOR JACK'S THOUGHTS JULY 28, 2009 WATER IS A NECCESITY!! Water is something that we need and use all the time, every day, but really never think much about!! Have you ever thought what your house would be like without water?! We use it for cleaning, cooling, drinking, washing our hands, bath room needs to mention just a few things. Simply spoken, our lives are made up of keeping enough water in us and around us! Water is essential for physical well being. In the same water, spiritual water is essential for our spiritual well being too!! The Bible speaks in many places about living waterthat hydrates our souls!! Jesus told the woman at the well that she needed to ask Him for living water in John 4:10. Then in John 7:38 He said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." We need to go to Jesus who is the Source of living water but then, listen to this, as we believe in Him streams of living water flow through us to those around us who are thirsty! Have you been feeling rather 'dry' in your Christian life? Has disappointment and discouragement sucked the life sustaining spiritual water from your soul? Do you lack interest in your life and the lives of others? Dry, dusty, brittle souls can be painful. Take heart, because Jesus said for us to run to the Source of living water (Him.) Eph. 5:26 speaking of "washing through the water of God's Word." We find Him in His Word and in our daily conversations with Him in prayer. Prayer can be instant but reading His Word needs effort. Make time for both. Do you need living water from Jesus? Go to the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and drink in His life as you read it there. Listen to what His Word says. If you go to the Source (Jesus) you will never be disappointed. I challenge you this week to read through the book of John. There are 21 chapters in it and 3 chapters a day will do it! Soak up His living water! I promise you will find joy, peace, mercy, wisdom and much more when you do that. Thirsty for Jesus, Pastor Jack Jack L. Martin |
